Expectations of Membership

Please take a moment to read these expectations of membership of the ConnectingHR community and check that you are happy to support them:

ConnectingHR is your community.  Most of the organisation is done by a group of volunteer champions (see featured members under the Members tab), acting on your behalf.  However the community will only be able to continue if you support it too.

As a guide to the sorts of things you may be able to do, we’d suggest you should:

  • Complete your profile, together with a photograph, to support networking
  • Contribute here at least once a month - find something to post, or respond to someone else, etc
  • Contribute on Twitter (using the #ConnectingHR hashtag) at least once a fortnight - and not just using the hashtag to promote your own blog but responding to someone, helping someone etc
  • Support our events:
    • Participate if possible - book early* (which encourages other people to come along) and aim to bring someone along (we’d particularly like to encourage suppliers to find one or more practitioners in their networks to bring along)
    • Blog and tweet our events when you do attend
    • Otherwise help promote our events - even if you’re not attending - eg we’d expect that you’d want to do at least one RT for every tweet-up and unconference - and ideally, much more.
      • Please do think carefully about whether you want to tweet that you're not coming to an event! - it can look a bit off-putting if we get lots of these!!!
  • Look for ways to support other members through coaching, mentoring, sharing information etc.

If you want to go beyond this, please see one of the current community champions about joining the champion group.

We'd also appreciate your commitment to the following:

  • Refrain from offering services for sale or promoting your own business or that of others
  • No posting of job opportunities or open solicitation of community members for job opportunities or offers
  • Please also don't post comments, items, messages or feeds of an offensive nature or which may cause offence.

Community activity is monitored but not actively moderated.  Any discussions or other content added by community members that we deem not to be in the spirit of these principles will be removed without notice.   Similarly, we reserve the right to revoke membership of the community of any member who persistently ignores these principles.

If you have any questions regarding the community or our expectations of membership please don't hesitate to contact one of the community's champions.

That's it!  We look forward to connecting with you in the Community!

* - we will always refund your early payments if you later find out you can't attend, and if you let us know a couple of days before the event, and ask for repayment (we do tend to accept it as a donation otherwise, simply because of our limited adminstrative capacity.)
