ConnectingHR is entering its next phase of evolution and I think makes sense to reflect on what it is / could be.When Gareth and I first met, our intent was simply to organise tweet-ups and…Continue

Comment by Doug Shaw on January 30, 2012 at 21:30 Oh I see, makes sense now.
To your question, find a better venue :) It's out there - somewhere
Comment by Gareth Jones on January 30, 2012 at 21:27 Hi Doug. Demolition?! Is it?? The point on location was merely ref to my conversation with Neil. We didn't touch on location (growing the footprint etc) so i was just saying that location aside, he thinks its fine. So what we gonna do if the spring closes?
Comment by Doug Shaw on January 30, 2012 at 21:19 I'm working on some US plans for 2012 too - for sure there's a way to take the #connectinghr flag around the world.
Gareth - can you expand on the point about location please? I have heard the spring is scheduled for demolition...
Comment by Gareth Jones on January 30, 2012 at 20:57 Powerful stuff Jon - when you put it like that it certainly makes you sit up and take notice doesn't it?! Im not sure about where next specifically but I do think expanding geographically is something I would like to see. I have been talking to William Tincup and Marc Mapes in the US about doing something over there, and also with Ellison about Oz. William has given me some other people to contact in Oz too.
Over lunch with Neil Usher the other day, he actually said that it's right just as it is (Location aside) and felt we didnt need to over do it. He felt that it was doing things for its members and we had the balance right. Who knows what will happen but for me, this year is def the year of connectinghr!
Comment by Jon Ingham on January 27, 2012 at 19:03 Next week (4 February) marks 2 years since Gareth and I first met to start planning ConnectingHR. Since then, we (the growing community of just under 200 to more than 500 people, depending on how you measure it) have run 5 tweet-ups and 3 unconferences. We've dominated social media conferences like CIPD Social, and the social aspects of others including CIPD ACE and this week's HR Directors Business Summit (#HRevent). And, for good or for ill, we've become the standard hashtag for anything to do with HR in the UK. But what's next? Where do you see this going during the next 2 years? It'd be great to have your views....
