Thanks Jon.  South Hill Park looks like a great venue.  I'll store it in my list for next time. Actually, its given me an idea to create a directory of alternative venues.  Its easy to find hotels and purpose built, smart, conference venues, but it is trickier to find more original, characterful and quirky places.

Flora, if you fancy the M4 vs the M40, you might like to try South Hill Park in Bracknell (my home town).  It's a beautiful and different venue, but has lost £1m of arts funding this year so it needs your money too!

Venues.  

 

I struggled for ages to find a non-hotelly kind of venue for a trainer development (advanced facilitation skills) workshop in the M4 corridor-ish area. Finally struck good, so if this is of use to anyone else in the same predicament....I found that all the Oxford Colleges have plenty of meeting rooms and also do really great value accomodation in non-term time.  So, me and my merry band are off to Balliol College!  Should be fun.  We get to eat in a proper Harry Potteresque dining room.  I'd better bring an owl.
