In the same way that ConnectingHR is inclusive of all disciplines across HR, the title of this group is also inclusive of all disciplines across HR. The purpose of this group is to offer help in some way to organisations that do not have the benefit of a full HR function, who require advice/help/support in some respect. The idea is to be able to step in, use our expertise as appropriate, and let them carry on. Importantly this is not for commercial gain, but as a group of professionals we have knowledge that can be used to benefit others, and so we should.
If you want to be involved, look out for updates on which organisations people have come into contact with, and what their requirements are. There's no structures around this, so we're relying on common sense to guide as as best we can.
My feeling is, if you want to get involved directly and offer what help you think you can, please keep it open and transparent so we don't start overloading respective organisations with offers of help that they then have to manage. If we can let each other know what we're intending on doing for them, it helps inform the rest of us about how we choose to get involved.

Comment by Katie Davis on April 16, 2012 at 18:51 I would love to get involved in this type of activity if anyone has any connections within the Cambridgeshire area. I'll do some research over the next few weeks to see what opportunities I can find, but happy to take leads.
Comment by Natasha Stallard on December 6, 2011 at 12:47 I'd love to invest some time - yet time has been massively squeezed of late. Will be re-connecting with this over the coming weeks though ...... anyone else ? .......
Comment by Sukhvinder Pabial on November 10, 2011 at 11:01 Hi folks, any new word on the street? Has anyone started doing work with Eaves or Breakthrough? Be good to know how/if people have decided to invest their time.
Personally, I've not had a chance to do something, but would enjoy hearing what others have been able to do.
Comment by Jose Franca on October 24, 2011 at 19:08 Hi Sarah - I did lots of that back at CVX - specifically Feedback, Coaching & Performance Mgt Skills for new managers/supervisors. Lets catch up and bounce some ideas?

Comment by Doug Shaw on October 23, 2011 at 15:42 In part motivated by our meetups and emails I recently helped out for an afternoon at The Blatchington Court Trust. This trust helps provide education and employment for blind and visually impaired folk under the age of 30 in Sussex. I ran a world café with an associate to enable parents of blind and visually impaired kids to talk about how the Trust could help them. It was a very motivating active session. The parents enjoyed it and the Trust now has more useful ideas about things it can do to help its customers.
So what I hear you ask? I just thought it would be useful to feedback that our conversations are resulting in opportunities being spotted and things being done. I think that's important for the whole community to realise that ConnectingHR is benefiting a wider audience. I hope others are motivated to participate where they can.
Comment by Sarah Durbridge on October 22, 2011 at 20:36 At Breakthrough we have a need for some leadership development. We have a few core groups 1) middle managers 2) new managers 3) managers that have managed for a while but never had any development. The core/priority areas are: change mgmt/leadership; feedback & coaching; managing performance; understanding the role and responsibility of being a manager - and willingness to be accountable.
I would love to develop a modular programme and bring in specialists to deliver each module.... keen to know if anyone is willing/has the expertise to offer in any of these areas :-)
