Although I am an HR person, my expertise and passion is recruitment. I follow several relevant LI discussion groups and get articles from various sources.
There are two main themes at the moment. How awful agencies are. Or how great agencies are. So most of the agency posts are about how rubbish the internal recruiters are and how crap HR is in general. And most of the candidate and client posts write about how awful agencies are. So, how do we work together? Or is there are role for agencies in the future as more gets taken in house?
Which leads to the second theme. Where does recruitment belong in an organisation, with many saying it should not be in HR at all (recruitment and HR require different mindsets - the former is entrepreneurial and targets focused, the latter is all process and stifling - I paraphrase). It should report directly to the CEO perhaps under a general theme of the 'war for talent' (aka 'looking for rock stars').
Thoughts from the rest of the group?
