Hi All
Does anyone have recommendations for interesting, thought-provoking LinkedIn groups to join?
I have lurking tendencies at the moment and want to try and get more involved ;)
Thanks
Alison

Leaders' Storytelling Network http://www.linkedin.com/groups/Leaders-Storytelling-Network-3894321...
Cognitive Science http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=978717&trk=myg_ugrp_ovr
In the coaching vein the following have interesting posts :
Coaching at Work http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=2274910&trk=myg_ugrp_ovr
EMCC http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=1492277&trk=myg_ugrp_ovr
You may already know of :
HR Professional UK http://www.linkedin.com/groups/HR-Professionals-UK-1748007?trk=myg_...
Learning Education & Training Professional Group http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=27003&trk=myg_ugrp_ovr
I have to say I tend to stay away from the larger groups as I find them too "noisy". Any suggestions from your side?
Cheers, David
Permalink Reply by Patrick Hadfield on October 17, 2011 at 15:29 I'll admit I haven't really found how to make LinkedIn work for me yet: the groups I've joined just seem very spammy with little of real value.
I haven't really worked out what else - or maybe more - I should be doing there!
Any thoughts?

Here are two useful ones I've found:
Management Innovation Exchange - http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=3021229&trk=myg_ugrp_ovr
Organisational Development Network - http://www.linkedin.com/groups?gid=103837&trk=hb_side_g
I've found groups to be a bit hit and miss myself. Hard to invest the amount of time you need to, in order to get the benefits. Having said that, from a Recruitment perspective, I've heard people talk about the benefits of being in the top fifty groups, in order to have access to more connections through the 'shared group' trait!
Hope that helps
Cheers,
Adam
Permalink Reply by Paul Wray on October 24, 2011 at 15:52 Similar to what others have already written, I have found it difficult to filter out the noise and find groups that aren't USA-centric.
Also, which ever group I have joined I have found it populated by the following:
1. Recruiters trying to sell something
2. Earnest sorts trying to sell something (i.e. themselves)
3. Lurkers - the camp I then join
It was because I couldn't find anything that suited me I started to look away from LinkedIn and found ConnectingHR.
I hope you have greater success
Paul

Permalink Reply by Ed Scrivener on February 1, 2012 at 10:47 *cough cough* How about mine? Human Resources UK http://www.linkedin.com/groups?about=&gid=58949&trk=anet_ug... I approve all posts so there's no spam or promotional material.
