Hi everyone,
We're looking at bringing the next London tweet-up forward from September to develop on the momentum from the unconference and since it's quite a while since we had one (since we didn't get ourselves organised last time).
So, sometime during June or July...
If you've any thoughts on dates, please share them below, eg:
- Most (all?) of our tweet-ups have taken place on Monday or Thursday - are these the best days of the week for people?
- June may be better as more people start to go on holidays from July, but then July will give us more notice to get things organised and people booked up. (And we did have 93 people booked on our last Summer tweet-up on 28th July 2010.) So perhaps the last week in June?
And I think we agreed, that assuming we can get the dates we want, we'll head back to the Square Pig again this time...
Thoughts?

Permalink Reply by Community Manager on May 21, 2012 at 10:51 Im concious that time is slipping by! How about Wednesday the 27th June? Alternatively if this is too soon, Wednesday the 18th or Wednesday the 25th July?
I have suggested Wednesdays as I have had a few people say that Thursday is a bad day for them!
Can we agree on this today please?
Permalink Reply by Jon Ingham on May 21, 2012 at 15:57 Slipping by??? It's been less than a day, Gareth - chill!
If anyone else has any thought on this, please add below...
Permalink Reply by Community Manager on May 21, 2012 at 16:12 lol sorry - i meant since the last tweetup! Ill pop a note in the unconference group to nudge everyone who has an opinion.
Permalink Reply by Jon Ingham on May 22, 2012 at 12:35 So not Wednesday 27 as that's Doug's #SDDT event.
Yes, we could decamp down to the Spring after this event has finished, but then I'd suggest it'd be nice to #ConnectingHR members to do that anyway. I don't think it would feel like our previous tweet-ups, just as the drinks after #CHRU have been great, but again not the same as the tweet-up. Just my opinion - please feel free to challenge!
Anyway, my suggestion is that we avoid that whole week so we don't interfere with #SDDT.
How about the following week (w/c 7th). Anyone else got any other big events or anything on?
Permalink Reply by Jon Ingham on May 22, 2012 at 12:39 Actually, that might still be too much all together - let's push back. I'd still suggest the week of the 16th July will be as late as we want to go before the holidays.
Also, as this gives us a bit more time, I'm going to slow down on the organisation (just so you know Gareth!)
Permalink Reply by Doug Shaw on May 22, 2012 at 12:49 There are a lot of crossovers between the groups, this might actually be a good time to introduce them. We're all familiar with The Spring, and if as I understand it, it is to be demolished, maybe we can say hi to each other and goodbye to the old building?
And I'm sure you wouldn't be interfering with us :) I'll post this to Twitter and let's see what happens, I'm easy either way :)
Cheers - Doug
Permalink Reply by Jon Ingham on May 23, 2012 at 15:22 OK, so Merv's with Doug re 27th June. Unrepresentative sample of members of course, but if nobody else is going to add their opinions we can only go with what we've got. So currently it looks as if we'll do a tweet-upy thing at the Spring after Doug's Stop Doing Dumb Things unconference. And perhaps split the bill (which should be a lot less since we'll just be buying at the offy) with Doug?
Permalink Reply by Charlie Elise Duff on May 25, 2012 at 17:16 I like this too! But I think we could do a June tweet up AND a Sept one - in fact I think we should.
Permalink Reply by Jon Ingham on May 25, 2012 at 22:36 Tweet-up on 27th June (sort of) definitely confirmed then.
And yes, I agree, we should head back to the Square Pig in September too.

Permalink Reply by Jon Ingham on May 28, 2012 at 10:20 Thanks Doug - sorry I had planned to at least get the eventbrite page set up this weekend but ran out of time as usual. And it makes sense for someone to 'own' this as Gareth and I have in the past. It'd be great if you've got time to do this as well as the unconference. Otherwise perhaps Mervyn / Charlie or one of the other champions who will be there can help? Anyway, all we've done in the past is to cut and paste from previous tweet-ups, with a little bit of refinement - and probably more will be required in this case. Easiest thing will be to give you access to eventbrite, but your wga account is already registered there, so you would need to provide another. Respond here, or email me or Gareth with the alternative email address if you want us to do this. Cheers - J.
